I love old Hollywood style. French cuffs, three piece suits, a nice fedora, etc. So when I stumbled upon Butcher and Singer's website a few months ago, I knew from the start I wanted to check this place out. I have been there twice, and let me tell you, neither time disappointed. The decor is great, the service is superb, but the food, which is the ultimate reason we go out to dinner, is as good as I've had.

I got the $46 dry aged porterhouse both times, and both times it was the best steak I've ever had. Ever.

The last time I went, my fiance got the crab cake and it was one of the best she's had in a long time (and she is a crab cake aficionado). For my appetizer, I got the oysters from British Columbia and they were fresh and delicious. So it's not just steaks done well at B&C, but seafood too.

Not to mention that you have to get the stuffed hash brown side dish (all side dishes are big enough for two people), it is unique and fantastic.

Great food, great atmosphere. One of my favorites in the city and by far Steven Starr's best restaurant.

Portions are huge and the prices are so reasonable for the entire package; delicious food, beautiful yet unpretentious ambiance, great service
Loved it all. Would definitely go back!

Went to this restaurant during Center City Restaurant week... so delicious! I had the shrimp cocktail, filet mignon, cream of spinach, and sorbet. Let me just say that the filet was melt in your mouth and the cream of spinach was to die for! The inside of Butcher and Singer was so cute with dogs on the walls and napkins. The seating was very cozy and warm. It was a perfect dinner for a snowy evening. Our waiter was wonderful- he aimed to please.

Great place that highly recommend!

I took my husband here for his 30th birthday- It was an excellent experience.  Food, service, noise level- everything was on point.  The waiter was great- I wish I could remember his name.  My only issue was what's up with the dollar store lamps on the table?  No biggie- just an observation.

okay...so I was originally a bit skeptical...but my friend really wanted a baked alaska...so i agreed to stop in with her for dessert...and let me tell you...although the description of the baked alaska didn't wow me...the taste won me over! hot, cold, cruncy and soft and chewy! Yum!

Since we'ld already had dinner, we sat at the Bar and decided to have drinks too! The Bar Tender was fantastic, came over and talked to us for a while and made us drinks to suit our tastes that were perfect!! We'll definitely be back!

An RW success story! The wife and I stopped in tonight.  We had Open Table reservations for 7:45, showed up on time, and were seated immediately.  The place was packed!

We were seated at a beautiful table on one of the upper side levels.  I'll get my one complaint out of the way now.  It was noisy.  There were no tables super close to us.  It was just the general noise level that made it difficult to converse.  I'm not sure there was anything that could be done other than to show up on a very slow night.

Now for the food.  I opted for butternut squash soup, 8 oz. filet, mashed potatoes and the cherry chocolate bread pudding.  The wife went for beet salad, salmon, green beans and the same desert.  In a word, or four, we were blown away! Beautifully plated, correct temperature, and delicious.  It's not often that we both rave about every course.  This was a seriously impressive meal.  There was not a hint of RW skimping.

Or waiter was Mickey (like the mouse) and he was perfection.  He was a little humorous and attentive at just the right times.  We couldn't have asked for anything more.

Some folks say that RW week is a lesser experience than a normal week.  While the menu was certainly limited our experience was stellar!  We will be back.

Very good & very comfortable.
The 'best steak of my life' said husband as we ate the Porterhouse for two.
Noise level good for a Starr restaurant.

Yes, the decor and the service was impeccable. The meal was less so. My steak was salted into oblivion not to mention just a mediocre cut, and I swear they steamed my side of asparagus for a half hour and threw it under a heat lamp. Completely limp and accompanied by a chunky hollandaise sauce, it was less than impressive.

The bartender was on top of his game, and the service as a whole never skipped a beat. Perhaps just an off meal, but I'd take Barclay or Union Trust over B&S  any day of the week based on the experience.
