www.temperleylondon.com TRUE BRITISH For the Autumn Winter 2010 Alice Temperley has taken a new direction to display the collection via the next installation concept that will be unveiled on Feb 16th at New Yorks MAC & MILK studios. Inspired by the late Norman Parkinson and with access to previously unseen works held in a private archive, Alice with the help of photographer Adam Whitehead has re-interpreted some of his most striking shots featuring some of her favorite British Icons that represent British style and glamour across the world. Her subjects for the shoot include Annie Lennox, Liberty Ross, Sophie Dahl, Rosamund Pike, Laura Bailey and Jacquetta Wheeler. The images are blown up onto canvass and Alice worked into them, using some of the embroidery and embellishment techniques represented in the AW 2010 collection, thus creating truly unique pieces. In an effort to give back to society and to create a more meaningful format for this seasons display of the new collection, the images as well as the Unique Vintage Norman Parkinson Prints - from The Angela Williams Archive, will be auctioned at Philips de Pury gallery in London on May 19th. All proceeds from the auction of Alice Temperley's Individual Unique Artworks of British Icons as well as the Unique Vintage Prints from The Angela Williams Archive will be donated to Oxfam in order to support women in West Africa and help to fight the spread of HIV and AIDS.
